Centrol Recycling Group can treat its clients' biodegradable waste using anaerobic digestion processes. Anaerobic digestion uses micro-organisms to bread down biodegradable material in a vacuum, converting waste into energy.
An important part of Centrol's Total Waste Management system, anaerobic digestion helps reduce or eliminate food waste dumped in landfill. The process generates biogas which is a major source of renewable energy that can be used to generate electricity.
Biogas can also be used directly as a cooking fuel, and the residue from the anaerobic digestion process is used as a fertiliser. Centrol can process almost any organic material with anaerobic digestion, including waste paper, food waste, and used cooking oils.
